    JSConf
    3pm through Saturday, June 1 at 4pm
    Amelia Island Resort

JSConf is a unique conference organization, because we aren't really a conference organization at all. We are a very loose federation of developers who share the same general idea about how a technical conference should be held. We don't believe that one model or process fits all communities, in fact we are big advocates of locally run events driven by passionate individuals dedicated to the community. We make events that aren't from the standard conference playbook because we believe you (attendees, speakers, and sponsors) deserve more than that. We focus on two things, pushing the boundaries of what is thought to be conceivable with JS and providing exceptional human social activities that encourage community and friendship building. That sets the general tone for each of our events and from there, local individuals from each region drive the conference to its own incredible level of excellence. Our mission is to make the technology community better, more diverse, and more human; in short, we just want to make things better. JSConf does not focus on what is popular or cool now, but on topics that define and revolutionize the following year of technology. We have been the launching point for some of the most revolutionary products, services, and technologies on the web. We have also been the inspiration point and support base for a wide range of conferences beyond the "JSConf" name.

    Hardware

They're taking the world by storm. Quad coptors, remote control Lego Trains, Robots, cybernetic implants. The hardware world is being revolutionized in so many ways and JavaScript with Node.js is charging ahead. We're aiming to push that charge forward with a track dedicated to hardware hacking, so bring your ideas, your hardware, your code & let's hack.

    Software

Code, it's in every thing we touch these days. JavaScript is stepping into new code realms everyday, in the browser, server, phone, databases, map reductions, your house and even in places we've no idea yet. Where are we heading next with JavaScript, what else should we do with it? Come hear about and contribute to the coolest developments in the world of JavaScript.

    Independent

We love this stuff. We love building things. We do this for the fun of it and because we just can't not do it! We love that it provides so much monetary value to society, as companies actually pay us to do this stuff. Otherwise we'd be starving artists, and we're cool with good food.

    PDX Node
    6:309pm
    Walmart Labs

Join us for the first meeting of the Portland Node users group. We'll have food, code, and a lovely presentation about Terraformer from Esri by Jerry Sievert.

    --What is Terraformer?--

Terraformer is a library for converting geographic data between different mapping formats and GeoJSON. But it's more than that, it's a Geo-Toolkit that works in node as well as in the browser via AMD or CommonJS, providing tools for reading and writing from multiple geo formats, converting to and from web mercator, an RTree index, and some simple polygon tools.

You can check it out at https://github.com/geoloqi/Terraformer

We'll also get cracking on what direction we'd like to take the group!

A MELTING POT CONFERENCE FOR REALTIME TECHNOLOGIES

We asked ourselves, "What would an ideal realtime conference look like? Let's do that." 2011 was a blast and we can't wait to do it again.

Everyone gets more out of conferences that are centered on making connections. No elitists here—you'll talk to everyone.
